There is a measles outbreak that began before Christmas at Disneyland and is spreading         across California and beyond. This is due to people not updating on their vaccine shots,           along with their kids. The measles are an infectious viral disease causing a fever and a red       rash on the skin, typically occurring in childhood.

The measles are very contagious, and schools along with hospitals are the key locations to grasping this horrible disease. Health officials said 59 cases of measles have been diagnosed as of Wednesday, with an additional eight related causes spread though, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, and Mexico. Earlier this week, Dr. Gilberto F. Chavez the director of the California Center of Infectious Diseases said "We can expect to see many more cases of this preventable disease unless people take measures to prevent it." "I am asking unvaccinated Californians to consider getting vaccinated against measles."

ESPN Tragedy

On Sunday, January 4, 2015 ESPN sportscaster, Stuart Scott, died at age 49 after battling cancer for seven years. His family, ESPN members, along with watchers of the show, were devastated by this sad shocking news. The beloved Scott has been part of the ESPN family for 21 years, joining the cast in 1993. Stuart Scott was known for his enthusiasm and his classic catchphrases including, "Boo-Yah!" and "As cool as the other side of the pillow." But when Scott passed away, he left behind so much more. ESPN writes, "He inspired his colleagues with his sheer talent, his work ethic and his devotion to his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15." He was diagnosed with cancer in late 2007 and underwent chemotherapy, radiation treatments and surgery. Stuart Scott was a very loving and hard working man who never gave up. He had many fans that were inspired by him, including President Obama. After Scott's death was announced, Obama stated, "Over the years, he entertained us, and in the end, he inspired us--with courage and love. Michelle and I offer our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and colleagues." On July 16, 2014, Stuart Scott accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYS.  He gave a beautiful and touching speech on how grateful he is. How he has to and will fight everyday for his daughters because he cannot leave them. Scott was an anchor, he was a legend. He will never be forgotten, but he will be thought about and missed so dearly. Stuart Scott will forever lye in our hearts and will still inspire us everyday of our lives.
